Steps to becoming a first year analyst? (Originally Posted: 06/27/2011)
I am currently a student at the University of New Hampshire. It wasn't until the middle of my freshmen year when I realized that I want to go into investment banking. I've always been interested finance, have some experience in online stock trading and own a landscape business that I started a few years ago. I have switched my major from biology to finance and was wondering how hard it will be to even get an internship in investment banking. I know it is an extremely competitive field and I am aware of everything Investment bankers do from a first year analyst and up. I have read many articles that getting an investment banking job is based on what school you go to and how good it is of a school. I realize that a state school could be a disadvantage and may need to transfer to a better school in the future. I will be going into my sophomore year and was wondering if anyone could give some helpful advice and steer me into the right direction on what I should doing at this point in my career in going into the investment banking field.
