Warm response or not?
Hi guys, cold emailed a guy, got no response and followed up this morning. He responded, saying this:
Thank you for your e-mails.I am making some enquiries regarding your request, and hope to be able to come back to you on this matter early next week, so please bear with me.
Could you also let me know where you obtained my contact details from?
Kind regards, and have a good weekend.
Wondering if this a good sign or him just trying to get rid of me? Also, If i don't hear from him by Wednesday or something should I follow up?
Thanks
He asked you a question so I'm guessing it's warm. A cold would be something like "Thanks for your e-mail. I'll get back to you if I hear anything. Have a good day."
It's quite possible that the guy has received a jump in cold emails recently and is wondering where people are getting his contact information. While he may be happy to help, he probably would prefer his inbox not be inundated with similar requests.
Definitely warm. And the reason he wants to know how you got his contact details is not because he is upset or anything but rather actually curious. I have had people ask me how I found their emails/numbers before and usually they end up saying "oh that was smart!"
Its the same thing as if a recruiter reaches out to you for a job, dont you want to know how they got your info/resume?
Also, I would wait until Friday for a few reasons, he will be less busy, it wont seem like he is your only hope, and it gives him time to respond which is a much better sign than you constantly berating him.
Okay. I will wait until Friday to follow up. I doubt he gets back to me first anyway.
Thanks
Talked to a guy on our sales team -- he said he'd consider that a warm response.
Def a warm response.
mmmm so warm!
Don't put chocolate too close to that email, it's gonna melt boy! The fact that he's reaching out to others for you means: it's toasty!
Is he English or something, or does he just think it's cool to spell inquire with an e?
A cold response is no response at all, man. Everything else is varying degrees of warm (even "GTFO!"; I mean, clearly you were effective at /something/).
I'd say this one is very warm. He's more or less entitled you to a response, which is very generous. Best of luck.
or, much like phila sort of said: he has been getting a shit load of these emails recently, wants to take his info down from whatever site people are getting his shit from, so instead of going "oi, where you gat ma deets fresher?" to which you probably wouldn't respond, he's being nice about it....
"No response" - frozen
"Fuck off" - cold
"Thanks for trying" - chilly
"Be advised, will contact if something arises" - temperate
"Your email" - lukewarm
"Let's grab coffee" - hot
"Can i S your D?" -inferno
