We coming out of this either jacked or obese

Did you set up your home gym before every last dumbbell went on back order or are you lounging in your underwear and inhaling all of the seamless? I know very few people falling in between these two camps

I’ll be in good shape by the end of this. Im probably in the best shape of my life right now. I have been running and cycling to stay fit. Last week cycled 257mi and also ran 16.3mi, which was about 15hrs of activity, so not bad.

I did a 5mi jog yesterday and same 5mi route today at 7:17 pace, followed by 4 x 800s on the track at 5:50 pace.

I have a half iron triathlon in late September that hopefully is on. I have to train like it’s on and can’t just sit around and do nothing. But, this week I think I might integrate more core workouts at home in addition to running and cycling. And more pushups.

It kills me I can’t jump rope right now. Speedrope is my jam - I get a lot out of it physically and mentally.

I wish - I don’t have Zwift.

I ran 5mi today then cycled 30mi later in the day.

curious how much of your speed/strength you feel is genetic vs just from quality/quantity of training? like do you have a very high natural VO2 max or do you think you're slightly above average athleticism with extreme work ethic?

I have pretty good genes in my family. My grandfather and father played college football, brother is a Navy SEAL, but I think I ended up with the best genes of them all. I have a high capacity for death endurance - just going on at a slow rate forever.

My quest to get better in triathlon is in the numbers. The hours spent training. It is a numbers game - genes are the base, but the number of hours spent in training is the core element of endurance sports. It takes a lot of hard work and persistence.

Consider the pro below, Cameron Wurf

He put in 29 hours a week for the past couple of weeks. Definitely solid effort. The pros really have to work for it.

But, as far as VO2 Max, Kristian Blumenfelt is the posterchild for high numbers and is also the 70.3 distance world record holder (3:25). He tested over 90 in VO2 Max. Mine is definitely high, but not that high.

Do you zwift? 3 day Haute Route tour this Sat, Sun, Mon. Should be brutal

I rode 2hrs today and then it started to rain. My 4 gyms are closed. I need Zwift.

I'm possibly getting a trainer soon (maybe Kickr Core from LBS) - I might be on Zwift soon. If I join Zwift though, imma take over -haha - this should be good.

Will come out of this break even hopefully. Decreased amount of food intake knowing it'd just go to the belly. Trying to throw in more fruits and avoiding high calorie meals/fast food type shit.

Portion size control is a key component of my strategy.

Most people can't just fast for 24 hours, but a standard 16:8 Intermittent fast is doable.

Most people should be in better shape now due to all of the extra time. I do cardio and lots of body weight exercises. With that said, if you rely on a gym, you need to find another way to pump iron or exercise.

better shape or just skinnier? and that’s still debatable with the immobility where people don’t move away from their monitor. most people with muscle will be a shit load weaker and anyone who is weak finally may have some time to do a couple push ups. fact is we are converging, those that were weak could get stronger and anyone who regularly goes to the gym will have some losses

yes and no...to both? My hours have increased by 30-40% since WFH.

I barely have enough time to grab a meal in between 7am and 6pm. If am lucky that people arent throwing meetings on my calendar at 6am in the morning I try to sneak out for a jog and maybe some bodyweight exercises. Even the parks and trails are closed so I have to destroy my joints on the street.

People no longer seem to respect your "lunch hours", that is, if you're bold enough to let them know you're going to be away at your desk for a little feed. Whilst in the office, they wouldn't bat an eye if you went for 1-2 hour lunches...

Highly doubt I'm coming out of this either jacked or obese. Exercising in my apartment but you don't get jacked via pushups. Down 5 pounds already. Not sure if that's lack of bloat/water weight, muscle loss, or just a healthier diet since I'm not eating out at all.

Pretty much the same boat I'm in. Down 7 pounds and looking more defined because of cardio and bodyweight exercises. Also probably helps that I'm eating less junk food because I'm not at school

I’m a fun guy. Obviously I love the game of basketball. I mean there’s more questions you have to ask me in order for me to tell you about myself. I'm not just gonna give you a whole spill... I mean, I don't even know where you're sitting at

Same. I'm in a studio apartment that doesn't even have normal doors to fit a pull-up bar. I usually lift but I'm pretty much restricted to yoga and bodyweight exercises and my appetite is way down. It's going to be humbling stepping into the gym for the first time whenever this ends.

I'm losing muscle and fat, but more fat than muscle, so I expect to come out net positive (say, over, 8 weeks). I've been doing a ton of walking (I live in a hilly area) + steps + push-ups. But I will definitely lose muscle, including in my legs, since I was doing cycling class 2-3 days per week.

The major benefit is not having access to my company's incredible cafeteria, which was definitely setting me back.

I’m just going to say that the air outside is amazing! Few car pollution with the most pristine air in North America is lovely! Great for walks, but social distancing ofc.

Lots of alcohol will just increase fat. It will be pretty tough to be honest. I guess it depends on how much you drink...

Baconators are the shit. If I can’t get a boutique burger and it’s 1am, Wendy’s is there for me and my 5000 cal per day habit...

I can't get obese, but since I normally hit the gym purely for aesthetics (low reps high weight), I'm still getting uglier every day.

It's getting real hard to gain good weight without access to heavy shit, I'm just losing muscle mass despite higher protein intake.

muscle loss is insanely overexaggerated, another silly fear peddled by supplement industries to keep people on their hamster wheel. just eat reasonably well and get a pull up bar...maybe get creative and use some heavy objects for ur shoulder raises.

It’s not really gone. Muscle memory lets you get back to that weight easier than if you were doing it for the first time.
