We from MS received an Update and no mention of FT :( Title says everything. I am beyond devastated and I don't know why MS does not follow the steps of Citi and Moelis. I think that MS will lose a lot of talent with this move
MS will lose talent because no mention of FT? Right right makes sense. Better apply to other BB's like RBC now.
I heard UBS is the best on the street now actually
UBS = GS > JPM/MS/RBC
It’s Morgan Stanley. They’re not going to lose talent because they didn’t give automatic offers.
Why are you devastated? You should still be more than capable of getting a ft offer.
Interns are retarded these days
"Devastated"...
what's more annoying is that we don't have group placement yet
is this US office?
yeah world wide (at least the major offices)
Strange because I haven’t received any
Quite sure London received teams, but wouldn't worry too much. Even last year, teams were received around early May (and that was under normal circumstances, some BBs didn't give teams until a few weeks before internship started).
What did the email say?
"beyond devastated" -- jesus christ you people are so dramatic....
gotta practice colourful language for fluffing up the pitchbooks
yeah there is absolutely no way MS recovers from this. their days of being a BB are done. wouldn’t be surprised if they go under or are bought out by Moelis or something at this point
Relax, still might happen and if not it's nothing to whine about
It's certainly something to whine about.... college is expensive and this sucks right now for many people. That being said, gotta move on to the next one and make it happen.
Is MS a BB?
It's more of an up and comer, perhaps an upper middle market if we're being generous.
Comparable to Tobin & Co, FT Partners... y'know the rising brands
/s
On the same boat. I know this might sound devastated when a dude at one bank receives FT offer while another dude at another bank doesn’t. It sucks, but at the end of the day no one is entitled to any FT offer. Maybe we are not that lucky and have to grind as usual. Goodluck to us.
I don't get why there is some herd mentality amongst incoming interns that "giving FT everyone will definitely benefit the banks, and if they don't it's a catastrophe". Yes, it will benefit you (at least short-term), but the bank will have to increase FT headcount significantly if they usually give FT offers 50-70% (several BBs in London last year), and it will be made even worse if the very likely recession does come. Additionally, you get quite a few analysts who would've realized throughout the internship that banking is not the right choice for them (which is completely fair and natural).
You earn it the hard way at Morgan Stanley; in life nothing is given, everything is earned, you work for what you have.
deleteeeeee
cringe
Haha to be fair it does read kinda cringey, my bad. My point stands though, if you want a less cringe version: stop whining and get on with it
hands down one of the cringiest comments ever. “as an incoming SA at MS”... like who do you think you are, everyone commenting on this thread is going to MS. good luck getting a return
TBH the main post is even cringier
This guy no doubt goes to either NYU, SMU, Indiana, or Emory.
Some of you guys (not all) are so entitled. Morgan Stanley may not be offering FT offers, but this just means you have to work for it- nothing wrong with that. In fact, it will feel much better once you go through that battleground. It will give you a sense to see if IBD is right for you and a sense to MS if you are right for them. Getting through the traditional way will only be a positive stamp of approval going in FT in 2021. These kids at Citi will not have this same luxury and for some kids it will be "devastating" when they realize they are in WAY over their heads and have no idea how stressful this job can actually be.
What was the update? Shortened virtual program?
