Weird Job Offers
Hello all, I usually just lurk these forums, but now I've decided to post. I am currently a junior in college, and I am working on getting internships lined up for next summer (already got an offer in AM and one in valuations, at two very reputable boutiques).
Anyways, back in early August, I reached out to a financial software company in my city. The company primarily makes analysis software that is used by PE firms. The CEO is an alum of my school, and was very eager to meet with me. We got along great. He brought me to the office several times and introduced me to the rest of his team. He then decided to offer me a part-time job during this fall semester (his office is near my campus). I wanted additional experience, so I decided to take it. He asked me to send him my class schedule so that he could "find something that works for us" and that I'd start the week after Labor Day.
Well, I sent him my class schedule and have not heard back from him. I have shot him three more follow-up emails and left two voice mails. Two weeks have gone by and I haven't heard from this guy. He doesn't reply to emails nor answer his phone. I don't know if he was fired, or if he went on vacation, or if he changed his mind about the job and just doesn't want to tell me. Or hell, maybe he died.
I will find out what happened and follow-up here.
Do you guys have weird job offer stories?
