I know some fellas there, great AM firm, fairly conservative culture
anyone else??? help
Agree with GutShot, they definitely pay well but their hours can be long.
"conservative culture" meaning just go with the flow as opposed to taking charge, taking initiative etc
how's the pay for a FI analyst type of role... or more generally an analyst role... 50Kish???
Probably more. I know a kid who got an offer for 55k as an IT analyst.
Yea, at least 50k
heard that the interview process at wellington is particularly long and drawn out? any truth to this?
anyone ever interview with them before?
yes, i interviewed with them. the interview process is very similar to any other AM. i had phone interviews first round then 6 second round interviews for super day. all straightforward questions. they care about fit a lot. don't pretend you know the answer to some accounting/finance question if you don't.
people are very nice and down to earth. culture is conservative in a sense that, you go in, respect the institution, leave your ego at the door, and focus on learning as opposed to being a rock star -- in fact, they'll ding you if they think you're too much of a "rock star"... i know it doesn't make sense, but they really like people who are humble, conservative, unassuming, team player, but hardworking and intellectually curious.
pay is great (not quite IB but closer than you think). hours are not long at all (about the same or better than consulting hours). very good firm to work for. its culture is totally anti-banking.
hope this is helpful. good luck.
heard entry level investment makes 60-70k base + 10-15k bonus there.
my impression was that the bonus is higher than that. 1st year base was 60k when i interviewed, but it might have gone up this year.
not bad...pretty good actually... almost on par with bb idb
anyone have a idea of what questions they ask?? more technical or fit? specific questions ??
thanks
What is the culture at Wellington like? (Originally Posted: 03/02/2016)
Does anyone have some insight as to what it's like working at Wellington? Whether culture, investment approach, hours, team structures, potential upward mobility, interview experience, or any other interesting info on this firm?
Wellington is one of the most well respected asset managers out there. They're a private partnership so you could have a very long and rewarding career path if you were successful there. Their culture tends to be very conservative but also collegial. One of my friends works in their London office and loves it. One of the best places to start a career in my opinion.
