West Coast Hours for a Research Analyst?

What are the hours like in the west coast for a research analyst?

I've heard portfolio managers usually are there ~5, and while research isn't exactly operating on NYSE hours I would imagine they have to show up early as well. Do research analysts have to come as early as them (will this vary also between like a large AM and a hf)?

Asking this because ~2 years out of college and am thinking about doing fundamental FI research out here

I work for a fundamental AM (100+bln AUM) on the west coast and the RAs are in the office about 5-530 with the PMs. Saw them when I got in early to study for CFA, finish my work and get out early on Fridays. Most of them are gone around 3

Depends on firm, really. Poor sell-side are in earliest and often taking the morning mtg calls from home and/or during very early commutes. I knew some at more long-term oriented shops who would come in at 7-8. More market oriented, it's going to be coming in at 4:30-5:30am generally. I worked several years from 5:30am to 3-4:00pm. But that included a good 30 minutes of early reading (home/commute) in addition, since so much happens pre-mkt. It takes some getting used to...but it's actually nice if you commute and/or you want to be able to see your family/kids activities, etc.
