West Coast T2 Consulting to NYC Exits?
Hi folks
I am in my second year at a tier-2 consulting firm (think LEK, OW, etc) working in a major west coast city. So far, my work has been a mix of strategy and private equity due diligence with a slight skew towards the DD side.
My partner is determined to live in NYC for a couple of years, and her target companies are all based in Manhattan. I also like the city, although I have been less often.
Will it be easy to land a job in New York given my background? I am mainly interested in corporate strategy, venture capital, and ESG finance. I would consider staying in consulting (asking for a transfer or applying to a rival firm) but I would prefer to work a little less if possible… currently working about 55-60 hours.
Any advice is appreciated!
Corporate strategy is definitely doable, loads of ex-MBB/with decent number of T2 consultants at every F500 corporate strategy group, location won't matter that you're located on the west coast. VC and ESG finance will be harder because there are so few seats so open positions will be competitive.
What about corporate development? Is that doable?
