“I realized this wasn’t going to be a big payout,” he said. “Once I realized that this wasn’t a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, I was like, ‘Who do I report this too?’ ”

I wouldn't have reported it, but he's not as "stupid" as Initially thought.

"Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, for knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA."

These are scratch off games, correct? Its not like you could pick and chose which ticket to buy from the cashier before purchasing it. So what, you could buy a ticket and then decide if it was a winner before scratching it. Big deal, you still had to pay the money before you could see the code on the ticket.

Correct? Or am I missing a way you could have made money off this.... maybe becom the cashier and go through the rolls yourself? lol

No, read the wired article. You could see some of the numbers. It describes how he cracked the code, it's really simple. He also says that he originally wanted to plunder the lottery system, but that he figured he could only make $600 a day, and that he makes more as a consultant (which doesn't surprise me, a good geostatistician can save you hundreds of thousands, if not millions, a year by better telling you where to mine/drill).
