What are my chances at an MBA that BBs recruit at?
What are my chances at getting into HBS, Wharton, Booth, Columbia, or any other top MBA that BBs recruit at?
- 3.7 GPA from a non-target
- 740 GMAT
- CPA
- Two years working as an auditor at a Big Four
Do I have any chance? If not, what can I do to better myself? Is going from Big Four auditor to top MBA to BB IB even realistic?
there's always a chance.
Just DO YOU like A MO FO.
And if they like it.
ur IN LIKE FLYNNN
its like asking if you have a chance at being on a lineup with Rodriguez after playing one year of playing college ball at a shit ass university GOOD LUCK
I think you have a solid chance if you put in a few more years of work and add some serious EC's to your resume. If you're planning on applying now, then I don't think you'll get into those schools. Your grades are obviously good, but its the experience that will get you scratched...
Goto the thread "Ask Alex at MBA Apply." He knows what he is talking about. Obviously your GPA/GMAT will not hold you back.
I have a good friend who had similar stats to you. He buffed up his resume by doing a non profit microfinance fellowship for 1 year before applying. He now goes to a Booth/Kellogg/Ross.
The schools you mentioned are very likely to be reaches for you. The good news is that Investment Banks tend to recruit numerous tiers down in the MBA world. I suggest you apply to schools such as Duke, Dartmouth, and UVA where you'll have a better shot of getting in and a high degree of on-campus IB recruiting.
Thank you for the help so far. Would working for another two to three years raise my chances for HBS, Wharton, Booth, Columbia, etc.?
where are your ecs? sure, you have a high gmat and gpa, but otherwise youre just presenting yourself as a cookie cutter light blue shirt wearing PWC worker with no dynamics to yourself.
What do you consider strong ECs?
Hello
As you are aiming for top schools then a score above 700 is desirable. Also the GMAT alone won’t determine your chances of admission; your work experience plays a vital role as well. You need to ensure that academically you are in a good position. However it is not just the academics but beyond the academics that will help you in determining your candidature.
Your work experience plays a significant role. Generally most of the applicants are from with a good 4-5 years of work experience. Although it is not just the work experience that counts but also what you did there like-what were your achievements, what initiative you took, what changes you drove in your workplace etc. So if you can show that in 2 years you have demonstrated the skills business schools are looking for you could put in a strong set of essays.
Hence the quality of your work, your academics and beyond academics will play an important role in determining your candidature. Make sure you highlight your learning and justify your reasons for diverse job portfolio so you stand differentiated.
Thanks
