What are my chances - Professional services advisory to MM IB/PE?
Hi guys,
There is something that I have been wondering about for a while, so I've decided to go ahead and ask. I am currently an associate at a London professional services firm completing what they call a Rotational Advisory Programme. Basically this is a 3 year programme where candidates complete a year working in corporate finance, Consulting and Insolvency and Investigations while studying for a professional qualification.
I am currently in my first rotation working for the Operational Deals Consulting team, my next rotation will be in Forensic accounting and my last in corporate finance Advisory (Lead M&A). I am also studying for the ACA.
I had worked for an IT company for two years before choosing to join the programme, with the overall goal of eventually transitioning to a MM investment bank or MM PE firm. I did some research on job openings for MM PE firms and there are a few looking for ACA qualified candidates with 1 - 3 years transaction experience from a Big 4.
What I want to know is this, what do you think my chances are of moving into MM IB or PE int he future? My plan is to finish the rotational programme and maybe work for one more year in the lead advisory team before looking to jump.
