What are my chances to get into lbs?
Hello, I'm a final year student at a private university in Thailand, taking BBA (majoring in finance). My current gpa is 3.75 and expected to graduate between 3.7 to 3.75. I was also awarded with CFA exam student scholarship this year by my university.
I have one past internship at an insurance broker company and currently still interning with them as they called for my help.
GMAT: Taking on April. Aiming to be around 600 to 700.
I am interested in applying:
Msc Financial Analysis in LBS
Msc Finance in Warwick
May I ask what are my chances to get in the aforementioned schools? And I saw that Warwick does not require GMAT but they do recommend it. So should I apply after my GMAT or before?
Hi CurryBeef, just trying to help:
If those topics were completely useless, don't blame me, blame my programmers...
Hi CurryBeef. I previously worked at LBS leading admissions for Early Career Programmes, most recently as Admissions Director, and am currently a consultant with Accepted.
To answer your question, "what are my chances to get into LBS"; your strong GPA (assuming this is on a scale of 4.0) in a quant programme is a good start, but to further demonstrate you have the skills to succeed academically you'll want to put forward a stronger GMAT. You should aim to at least meet the class average, which is currently 716. This is important to not only demonstrate academic aptitude, but to make your application more competitive. Also note that Warwick considers a score of 700+ as "well-balanced", so you'll want to be aiming for a score with a 7 in front.
I hope this will be helpful. Best of luck with your GMAT next month.
Hi Jamie,
What is the required GRE score for LBS?
Hi Andersio94. For the Masters in Financial Analysis (MFA) they look for a GRE score equivalent to the recommended GMAT score of 650+. If you're not sure whether your score meets this requirement, their team can confirm this for you.
Hi Jamie, that's very helpful of you. I will try my best to achieve at least 716 for my GMAT. Thank you. I appreciate it. :)
Happy to help!
We previously met in Paris during an LBS Event aimed at prospective applicants.
You, among other things, told me that job prestige/tier should be viewed in higher regards than location. E.g.: "Getting a job offer from McKinsey's Dubai office will look better on a resume than getting an offer from a regular less-known employer, just to stay in London post-graduation."
We also had the opportunity to talk about the previous LBS MiM graduate (who, in the mean time, also pursued an MBA at HBS) whose profile was featured by the Financial Times years ago (P**l Dbey).
Good to see you here on this board: Prospective applicants will highly benefit from your expert advice. :) +++
Hi Starfall. Thanks for getting in touch! I'm glad to hear you remember our conversation, I hope you found the discussion useful. Hope all has been well with you and your academic and professional pursuits.
