What Are Some Fratty Target Schools?
One would think being a fratstar and working in IB would go hand-in-hand. However, many target schools (Stern, Chicago etc.) have abysmal Greek life, while the best Greek schools (FSU, ASU, Alabama etc.) are big state schools and total non-targets.
Are there any target schools with good Greek life, or are Frat Row and Wall Street mutually exclusive?
Ummmm. One school comes to mind: Dartmouth.
UVa. Most of the people I met from there are so fratty (and southern bros). Maybe Vandy too.
Def UVA^^ and it's a good network.
Duke/Vanderbilt/Dartmouth/UVA
Anyone else think UVA would be a really good time? I know the coursework is supposedly brutal. IB/Consulting recruits very well out of there, too.
Never attended, visited several times. Great times yes, but the kids are way too pretentious for me to want to attend. I hung out with athletes, Elmo house, and alums from my chapter there, all the same stuck up vibe.
Georgetown
I'll actually expand a little bit on a couple of these just so you get the idea..
Duke - About 30% are in Greek life. The Southern-esque fraternities make it pretty fratty. It has great weather, sports, school spirit, etc. Way better than Dartmouth in my opinion. They don't stand around playing beer pong all day, but also actually have great parties and what constitutes a social life. The girls also don't have to bundle up in multiple coats and clothes to stay warm like at Dartmouth, so the girls are, arguably, hotter.
Dartmouth - 60% or so are involved in Greek life. Also considered going to Dartmouth. It's really inclusive and everyone goes to the parties, which, in my opinion, is bad since it means that GDI's and hipsters decide to show up. I do hear that there's rampant grade inflation here and tons of classes that are dubbed "easy As," implying that you can make your schedule piss easy if you want to.
Vanderbilt and UVA - Both fratty, but I, unfortunately, wouldn't call them targets.. They're more on the semi-target side if anything..
Stanford - You'd be surprised. It's not like the other schools here, but I have a friend that went to Stanford and they have a Greek life scene with decent parties, an actual frat row, etc. Again, it's not like Duke or Vandy but it's better than what you'll find at the other HYPM universities.
Are you referring to UG? MBA is definitely a target at UVA.
USC would be a target Washington and Lee and others like W&L would be semi-targets, but still have solid representation and a decent amount of people heading to Wall Street.
Dartmouth is most fratty of all the Ivies. Places really well in IBD.
UT has pretty intense greek life, with elaborate theme parties, big events, concerts at round up etc. which is funded by their (from what I've heard) pretty insane dues compared to most other places. Most things are also pretty exclusive (for guys obviously). Combined with UT sports, it all adds up to being a pretty fratty school, and if target is defined as OCR, then definitely also a target.
A little bit of a segway, but what is the most fun T15 MBA school?
tough to compare unless you've experienced all T15s. I found ross, tuck and cornell to be really fun but i haven't been exposed to all 15. prob being out of a big city helps cuz in the city everyone f*cks off after class. mit is really boring.
based on reputation, its Duke, Dartmouth, and Kellogg.
I attended one of the SEC schools being mentioned on this thread. Academics/Finance aside, if you talk like this, no one will bid you. Good luck.
...because we all talk how we write? Moron.
Also, surprised no ones mentioned UNC, much better greek life than duke
Dartmouth, UVa, and one that hasn't been mentioned here, Colgate.
I went to one of the party schools you mentioned and then got a top MSF. Not a bad plan if you really want the greek experience.
Cornell and Dartmouth. Major Greek life, major IBD job flow.
Dartmouth for sure. I'm a student there now and I can tell you for sure that there is great placement and alumni representation on wall street & it's fratty af
Yale: DKE, Psi U, The Hall, etc., plus the secret societies (ultra-frats)
Haha, the frats/greek systems at large schools (SEC, Big Ten, Pac-10 etc) are def not comparable to target schools' fugazi greek scenes. How fun is being in your target frat when there are no hot sororities at your school?
Also, the guy that mentioned Georgetown... wow buddy you need to travel to some other schools.
Columbia, UChicago. The parties there are sure to be off the charts. The "life of the mind" at both of these schools is just a myth.
UVA
I get that... but for those reasons it's really not a comparable experience
