What are the chances my offer gets rescinded?

I’m a senior at a semi-target starting at a decent middle market shop in August (think WB, Baird). When I got the position, I was a lower GPA candidate, but had no terrible marks on my transcript.

Since getting the offer, I received a failing grade, and I anticipate my employer asking for my final transcripts.

I am hoping to get a better sense of how this might affect my candidacy moving forward.

A mentor of mine has recommended I alter my transcript, but this seems unethical to me.

My hope in posting this is to get a better sense of the chances my offer might get rescinded and hear out any of your thoughts on how to handle the situation.

Thanks

I am not really sure what the process would be but if I were you I'd be honest when they asked for the transcript. Remember that they hired you for who you are, your technical skills, your personality, and also because they need people. The question is what does your "failing grade" entail? Will you not be able to graduate this year? If that is the case then you could talk to the HR and let them know that you plan to extend your course by a semester to finish a course. You don't always need to have an over the top / long explanation for everything until they ask for specifics. And if they do ask for details then be honest and let them know why you got the failing grade. More often than not its becuase you were busy looking for a job, networking, or if you were already working at the bank then you might have been strapped for time. The bottom line is is your team likes you and your work product is good chances are people will vouch for you and cut you some slack. Atleast I would. Hope this helps!
