What career path should I go down
I am currently going into second year of university studying mathematics ( I'm from the Uk and attend a decent university)
Experience:
Pre-university internship at a tier 2 IB
spring week at tier 1 IB with a summer 2019 internship offer in Securities
Currently working at a management consultant just to fill my summer up ( one of MBB)
So I have always wanted to be a trader, but what trading was pre 2008, and what it is now are worlds away.
The desk I am currently thinking of is options trading at an IB, but im not sure whether this is a job that is being slowly taken over by computers.
What job's out there do you think would allow me to have a fast paced job close to the market, whilst also providing some longevity to make sure my job still exists in the next 10 years?
nathantoa41, sorry there are no responses yet. Maybe one of these topics can point you in the right direction:
Or maybe the following users have something to say: potatohead123 charlie89yeo Atalay-Korukcu
Fingers crossed that one of those helps you.
I'd think very carefully about S&T right now. You're right that a lot of it is being taken over by software. My buddy and I started in finance at the same time, 12 years ago. He became a sales trader at a big bank. His team had 26 people in it. Now it has 4. Fortunately he's very good, so he still has a job. But he's paid far less than before. Be careful
