What Do All These Analysts Do?
A search on glassdoor revealed that investment banks have a lot of different analysts (no surprise.) I'll use the search results for Morgan Stanley as my sample population. The website lists salaries for:
126 Analysts
49 Financial Analysts
31 Operations Analysts
27 Investment Banking Analysts
I already know what operations analysts and investment banking analysts do. My question is, what do all these other analysts do and are they considered FO, or BO? If investment banking truly is their core business, then why do they employ 8.6 analysts for every investment banking analyst on the payroll?
ibanking isnt the only FO job at banks. many of the analysts are on the S&T side as well as ER, im sure some are on the AM side, and then theres the BO and MO guys...such as risk, quant roles, controllers, IT, HR, etc...
there are MANY more employees than just those of the ibanking division...
