What are the essentials that you bring everyday to work??

Hi Everybody,

I'm just looking for a little advice from some of the experienced finance professionals about some essential everyday work items. I am considering starting off in a research position (sell side or buyside) and I was hoping to get some recommendations. I suppose in general as well for the majority of positions in Asset Management.

I suppose from the start of things, what would you recommend for the interview?

As for everyday work what would you recommend?

Thanks!!

For work: phone (+ headphones), wallet, keys, briefcase.

For interviews, I bring copies of resume, cover letter, work samples, blank notepad/notebook, in addition to the above.

Never forget to bring a pen anywhere you go, work or otherwise.

Would the majority be walking around with a briefcase? What type would you recommend?

I have pens made out of aircraft anodized aluminum strong and pointy enough to fracture a skull. Also carry a glass breaker in case you have to escape from a sinking vehicle or a fire.

I used to wear suspenders, but then I saw someone disarm a knife-wielding thief with their belt after scaring off another attack with a sword cane and an umbrella.

I strongly recommend that everyone get a pocket sized fire escape hood offering protection against carbon monoxide for at least 15 minutes. I have two, the second one also protects against the majority of chemical and biological attacks terrorists are likely to use: Escherichia coli, Salmonella enteritidis, Serratia marcescens, Proteus mirabilis, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Staphylococcus cohnii, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Enterococcus hirae, Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus clausii, Bacillus stearothermophilus.

In the winter I wear concealable body armor underneath my clothes as a matter of safety and comfort, it keeps me warm. Level IIIA protection against all handgun threats + stab and spike protection, supplemented with steel plates to stop rifle fire. My briefcase also had an insert that will stop multiple .308 Winchester and AK-47 rounds.

With all the crazy stuff going on, you can never be too careful.
