What do you consider a "good gig" for undergrads?

So I REALLY need some help with this guys.

Getting confused seeing how different internships and jobs are discussed. I see that getting a hedge fund internship or job is great. Same goes for PE, but what is actually considered good? Because I see tons of hedge funds and PE firms that have less than 200m AUM, are these considered a great opportunity if I can land an internship? Or are regular classic IB internships better?

Tell me if these are worth interning for: Clean Energy Capital LLC, City National Rochdale(asset Man though), Bocage, Pro Private Equity (5lightsgroup), TCI Wealth Advisors? Or am I supposed to go to hedgefunds like Bridgewater megafund status??

Or is it expected to go the route of BlackRock, Blackstone, Evercore, MS, Apollo, CS, Moelis, UBS, GHL, GS, JPM etc. for a good opportunity and nothing else is really worth doing if I want a serious future in Finance.

Would the ones above help me enter the more "prestigious firms"? Or is any hedge fund a golden opp even if it's not like a Bridgewater megafund type of deal? I'm pretty confused by all of this.

What would you guys consider great opportunities or complete shit and not worth doing?

Get an internship in a role you will enjoy, with people you find interesting, doing work that will allow you to develop experience in a field you hope to break into.

I think people try to hard to make too calculated of moves throughout the process of pursuing internships/ careers. If you get an internship at any fund, actually learning shit, and developing relationships with people who actually know what they are doing, then hell I'd say that's a good gig. Don't forget to if you actually enjoy what you're doing and actually enjoy who you're working with, you'll probably end up succeeding much more than the kid at the other fund that yes is maybe a little more prestigious but hates everyone he works with. Find your fit.

But hey I'm just a student as well, so maybe I just don't know anything.

Just my 2cents.
