What do you think about scheduled emails?

Too disingenuous? Do you reply to see if the person replies quick to see if it wasn't scheduled? If you see an email sent on the dot, do you just assume scheduled and fake?

Edit: Meant for cold emails. If you see a cold email from a student on the dot would you assume scheduled and disingenuous?

Anyone who does it this is a fucking tool.

Why bother? I only work in a F500 company, but I think people who do this are insecure. If you have to pretend to be working all day and night, you're an idiot because you. presumably, cannot get your work done in an 9 hour day like the rest of us. So, to me it screams either incompetent or just dumb.

Meant for like cold emails, shoulda added that bit.

Because youre sending out thousands of emails to get into banking from a nontarget and are up super late. it would be nice to use the feature so you can keep reaching out 2am without annoying people (they get it at 9am)

Why bother?

So did I. Everyone here has way too much energy focused on things that do not matter. I think it's a great tool if used correctly. If you set it to send it out at 2:30A just to make others feel like you're a workaholic with a serious problem, sure that's stupid. If you know you might forget to send something off or want to catch someone at the beginning of the day, setting it to send at 8:30A is just a practical thing to do...

So....in marketing there are generally best practices around email + follow up cold call to maximize sales. Works for networking too obv. When raising cap for a port co I'll usually schedule emails out 24 hours right before I intend on calling people that would be OK with me calling them off the cuff.

Random question, but how many years of professional experience do you have? You seem to have a pretty solid understanding over a lot of areas.

Stay strong!

Hmmm...interesting question. I'm a student and I usually schedule ALL my initial emails at 7:30 AM (their time zone). I've never heard of a add-in that automatically replies though (what you mentioned). And if I'm replying to an email, I'll send it whatever the time, unless its past 12 AM my time, then I'll just schedule it for the morning. I've never intentionally scheduled an email for 2:30 AM, though...

I do something similar. If I know I am working late and dont want to bother my VP or md (aka they tell me they be out of pocket for the night) I will delay it till morning when I wake up so I can still monitor the chain

Revising and clarifying my response due to the revision. Anybody who finishes some work at 9PM and then schedules a 3:30AM email to their MD to look like a cool guy is a fucking tool. This is a common practice for analysts that suck at their jobs. The only time I can think of this being useful is if you're working with a crazy person that will iterate with you until the sun comes up and you want to avoid the hassle by sending the work out after they go to sleep

The reality is that if you're a student and sending cold emails, nobody is going to give a shit. Nobody has enough of an ego to actually believe that you're reaching out to them and only them anyway. The assumption is you're sending a canned email. Anyone that is policing the time-stamp of your cold email is probably a psychopath that you don't want to work with anyway.

You should, however, e able to respond to any response you get within 30 minutes to an hour. If you want to send your email at 3AM for some dumb reason and they respond at 3:30AM, your lack of response is in my mind disqualifies you. You'll have my attention for a limited period of time. Take advantage of that time or don't.

I also don't really understand the question. Just schedule your email for like, 7:48PM, or something.

I use it so I don't bother people late at night or if i need to make follow up contact with a person. It's easier sometimes to type something up now before i forget than to wait the next day.

Currently applying to medical school.
