At first, I thought you missed the whole skill part. Now I appreciate that insightful perspective.

Will Smith does a good bit on skill vs talent that fits your narrative very well.

If you're in IB, it's honestly the ability to learn how to swim every time you get thrown into a sink or swim situation with no guidance, which is very often. You start to get better at this the more you're in these types of situations, the slightly easier it becomes but I've been doing this for years now, and I'm not inherently that good at doing things without any guidance or help. I've been spoonfed all of my life and honestly, still prefer that in all cases. Unfortunately, this job does not let you do that or you will get a bad rep considering how busy all of us are.

If you are used to being spoonfed all of your life, please don't go into this field. It's going to be really tough for you.

Building trust

Some of the most successful PE guys I know can't stress these skills enough.

So important. Without it / these, you'll never get further than the technical monkey that is sooo replaceable.
