I don’t even know what it’ll look like next month.

I think a year from now is easier to predict than a month from now. I remember when I broke my leg that it was the most excruciating pain of my life. Once the pain was gone I pretty much forgot about it. Now I look back at it and kind of laugh. That's how the human brain works--we're designed to forget pain and trauma and to press on.

Especially with the 15-second news cycle and the larger culture's short attention span, my guess is that once the elections have passed and the news media starts reporting some good news about decreasing death rates, improved treatments, etc. that life will begin to get back to normal. A year from now, Covid will seem a distant memory. Once the kids go back to school, it's pretty much going to get 90% back to normal as office workers will start to trickle back in.

If Biden is elected President, my hope is that the politicization of every aspect of our lives--ESPN, corporate emails, social media, ice cream(!), cycling classes, HOAs, public schools, etc.--will be drastically reduced as the Resistance will be back in power. My God, that would be nice. Like, to be able to open up the sports section of a newspaper without every single article being about politics. To live in the world of 2014. OMG. How wonderful would that be?

If that's the world of President Biden, I'll gladly accept it. If I could open up the Washington Post and read an article about golf that isn't laced with anti-Trump rants, if I could read about electric cars without the author throwing in some random jab at Trump--how wonderful that would be...? It will be at least 2 years from now until we have to endure the "Go VOTE!" harassment. Normal life!

That would honestly be fucking amazing. I’m so exhausted of this shit. I’m a trump supporter but if a Biden presidency turned out the way you described I would be 1000% in favor.

When a resistance movement finally takes down a government, they often use their first opportunity in power to vindictively attack everyone who collaborated with the overthrown regime. I think it's likely that the "Great Awokening" would actually accelerate under a Biden presidency.

So you actually don't think a Biden presidency is drastically different from a Trump presidency because you think media, sports, etc. not being politicized is more important than who is in charge of the country? American democracy is really fascinating.

I don't think you understand the complete tyranny of the "all things Trump" culture since summer of 2015. The out-of-control, unhinged hatred of the institutions toward Donald Trump has caused politics to infect every single aspect of American life. Politics has become the personal; it's become everything. It's become a religion. For a large contingent of the population, the first thing on their mind when they wake up and the last thing on their mind when they go to bed is Donald Trump. You turn on cable news and there is hardly 30 seconds in a day that doesn't involve Trump. Politics has infected sports. It's infected ice cream (Pecan Resist. Really? REALLY?!). It's infected local news. It's infected every single aspect of American life. It's HORRIBLE for this country. It's terrible. It's tearing the country apart.

So, yes. Just maybe a Biden presidency will bring the country back from the brink. Maybe. So maybe it's not my prediction so much as it's my hope that 12 months from now life will be...normal. You can open a newspaper and it's about, ya know, news. Maybe my company will quit sending me veiled partisan propaganda. It's a mental tyranny that is exhausting and destroying this country. And I hope a year from now it's in a distant memory. And people can go about their lives. I want my life back. I want my co-workers to stop sending me unsolicited anti-Trump rants on Teams.

If Biden wins: COVID has been defeated, ok to continue on with normal-ish life. Everything is well and good (according to news). Federal + state income tax net out to 60% or more in NY/CA/etc.

If trump wins: COVID is raging out of control (even with whatever numbers Biden would have had as it is very difficult to control a virus via policy), things don’t really open much more, everything is a disaster (according to news). Perception is reality and the news is hellbent on shaping that in certain ways.

So let me be optimistic/realistic. I believe Biden wins. Because of that alone, COVID will be taken way more seriously. Honestly, COVID is all that matters for the near future.

So I can see a widespread mask mandate from most governors. I can see testing and tracing taken to the max, including mandatory tests for anyone boarding a flight. This vaccine talk irritates me because of all these politicians are acting like we already having a vaccine and they’re just waiting to give it out. That’s not the case. No vaccine has been approved or has even been close to the efficacy that the FDA requires. On top of that, most people will not take the vaccine because if mistrust of the government.

With that being said, whether we have a vaccine or not, I can see COVID being contained around mid 2021 and I can see it being suppressed by early 2022. I don’t see “normal” life happening until mid-2022. Tbh I hope it’s sooner because I’m tired of wearing masks and all of these restrictions. I think COVID will always be around like the flu now because China and Trump really fucked us all over by not taking this serious early on.

Not a single vaccine candidate has published efficacy results yet. You have no idea what you are talking about. FDA has t even reviewed any efficacy data because it hasn’t been presented to them yet.
