"What do you want for Christmas"
Hold off on the jokes, for now. Every year my family and significant other inevitably asks me what I want for christmas (early/mid 30's). Every year I have no ideas to supply them with outside of token fluff as I would have already purchased it if I wanted/needed it.
That said, my WSO brethren, I need ideas and what to hear what you'll be asking for.
Gifts, time, experiences, tickets, trips, handmade things, it's all fair play.
I'm asking for rare beer. I gave them my beer wish list (stuff like Abraxas, Bourbon County, KBS, Dogfish 120) and said if you can buy me a single bottle of any of these, I'll be happy.
This is a good gift because it's cheap (these bottles are $25 at most), and it allows them to get something I want but usually don't have the time to track down. At my banker income level, when I buy pretty much anything I want as soon as I see it, the most valuable gift someone can give me is time. The second most valuable gift would be a macaroni necklace from my baby niece, gonna have that framed (she already told me that's what I'm getting.)
This year's Bourbon County is amazing, apparently the Vanilla variant is the best of the lot.
You should try some of the New England beers like Trillium/Lawsons/Alchemist/Treehouse/BLDG8 if you get the chance.
Get out of jail free card.
Since his SO is asking, it should be good for 1 affair
You!
Cash. It's dumb to get anyone anything other than cash and even dumber when ppl are offended that you got them cash rather than some gift that they probably didn't want.
You're socially retarded fyi
I can vouch for this as a social retard.
Would like some wireless headphones for the gym, also some new gloves/ pants/ jacket for skiing.
Ski gear is always a good one because it's normally right at the beginning of the season and can get an immediate use out of it.
I want all the New Year Resolutioners to fuck off with their goal posting on social media but rather create their own little island of circle jerking about goals they will end up disregarding. The worst part is when I go to the gym and it's clogged up for two weeks by the resolutioners but thankfully end up quitting.
I just want a small lovely digital drawing tablet with a screen , such as xp-pen artist 12 pen display monitor , xp-pen company Introducing a Christmas package version , I love that , but it may cost me $250 if I buy from their offical store . I am just a young poor student , can Santa Claus give me one by free .
Why not an iPad and apple pencil? Save your shekels!
A good GMAT score
I try to avoid gift giving amongst most friends, instead I always stress that I'd rather see them, get together for a drink or a meal. There's a group of about 8 of us in our co-op that have gotten really close over the past 10 years and we usually aim for doing Noche Buena [Xmas eve] together - picking up food from a local Dominican restaurant and exchanging small tokens like mash-up t-shirts, coffee mugs, wine glasses, team hats, etc.
When I get asked for specifics, I usually ask for gift cards to Sephora [cosmetics/fragrance shop] or Bliss [spa for facials and massages]. Mom likes when I give her a list of books I want or DVDs from Great Courses [probably cuz I always share them with her, LOL]. Hubby likes to buy my clothes [I swear he has a damn-near fetish for sweater dresses, I always seem to have 2 or 3!] and he likes to track down whiskey, aged rum or stouts/porters that I'm already a fan of or tries to find something he thinks I will enjoy. I have a strong feeling there may be a bottle of Jameson Caskmates Stout edition [whiskey aged in barrels that previously held Guiness stout] under the tree this year - we discovered it on vacation in October and both of us really liked it.
Mom will often take me and my brother's birthdays or Christmas as opportunities to pass along a piece of her jewelry to me or something that belonged to my dad to him.
On the giving side, I always enjoy giving useful items like calendars with interesting photos, notebooks/day planners, nice pens. I also like spoiling Mom with a bottle of champagne and a tin of caviar, it was something Dad used to do and I like keeping up that tradition. I like gifting wine or champagne along with either a set of glasses or a nice decanter, so once the beverage is gone, the glassware can still put to use.
Widen 2-10 yield spread.
Enough SBs to start off the year as a Senior Orangutan
Good socks and underwear are underrated, but very useful presents...
WCS over $15 USD, thx in advance
Secret Santa with friends. Everyone gets drunk and exchanges gifts. The twist is you pick something that the person would hate.
Way more fun than exchanging gifts the person will probably never use.
3 month sabbatical somewhere warm
Been getting into watches recently. I really like the Orient Bambino V2.
Didn't know that watch. It looks really nice for the price. Any other suggestions? tengleha
For Orient they have a lot of affordable watches. Seiko and tissot are pretty good as well. Timex is classic and always works too. This is just some basic info i've gathered from lurking r/watches.
A summer internship offer :'(
Ideally, a nice Parker coat or a good pair of slim leg jeans.
Realistically, a pair of socks, boxers and a pair of slippers.
Can't really be arsed to go out looking for shit to buy tbh lol
I would like a 100% raise for Christmas.
A spring internship offer at a BB + a well connected family.
Your mum
Bose noise cancelation headphones, tickets to Dead & Co this summer.
Snagged back to back nights at Wrigley! Are you gonna catch Widespread for the NYE shows?
Fuck yeah, man. That's awesome. Definitely worth going both nights. I'm seeing them at The Gorge in Washington since my fiancé's family lives out there so we can all go together. And yep, I'll be at the Fox Theater in Atlanta for WSP on NYE. I've been going every NYE to see them since I was a freshman in college. Always a great show. If you haven't gone to any of their NYE shows I highly recommend it.
Trips are where my head is now. I buy whatever "things" I want or need.
Agreed it's difficult as I'm in the same boat. If I want it I buy it and if I want it and haven't bought it yet, then it's probably way too expensive to ask as an xmas gift. I usually always get socks ans underwear from my folks so I started asking for nice boxers (lululemon are amazing and don't scrunch up with a suit). Other things that are always nice to have, a new oxblood belt, or a cashmere scarf, nike running shoes.
a shitload of stance socks
