What does it mean by '2 yr program'?

I sometime see 'it's a 2 yr program' in job descriptions. I wonder whether it means after two years you will be promoted to associate (can still be in the company), or it means there is no guarantee after two years (after that you will have to leave the company?)

It depends entirely on the job. All it means is that you’re only guaranteed to work there for 2 years.

Some firms will typically promote you after that as long as you aren’t terrible. At other firms, a promotion is more or less out of the question and you will be forced to leave. And there are firms everywhere in between.
