What else could I be doing?

I am currently in my sophomore year of my undergrad. I am majoring in finance and minoring in math, and considering minoring in computer science. I plan to obtain an internship this summer that will lead into the following year. My question is what else could I be doing to learn about bond trading so I can be a step ahead of my peers? And I just finished reading Liar's Poker.

^ That's what I keep hearing/reading about too. However, I don't know anything about S&T and that career path.

If you do CS/Math you should be involved in finance related activities to demonstrate interest on your resume or maybe pick up a few classes as electives (if possible?).

Under my tutelage, you will grow from boys to men. From men into gladiators. And from gladiators into SWANSONS.

I would say major in EE and Finance. With EE you get all the math you'll need for finance, minus a probability theory class (but you can learn that on your own); plus you'll have a useful degree should the finance world not appeal/workout.

I dont know what EE is but..the best majors for S&T from an undergrad b-school is Finance and Stat..

If your undergrad doesnt have a b-school, then math is your best bet.

I honestly dont know why so many people on this site think a major in CS is good. Unless you wanna be a programmer, its pretty fucking usless in S&T.

But wait, what about quants? Quants arent really traders, they just build algos that trade for them. or quants create algos that actual traders use.

Ultimately it depends on what you wanna do, but CS as an undergrad wont lead to a quant position either. You would need a higher education to become a quant. Specifically a masters in financial math.

None of the guys I work with have a degree in CS. We are all finance/math majors and masters.

I am sorry, but EE won't do it. Not even close. You will bang your head against the wall, when you read Karatzes & Shreve. And learn probability theory on your own is doable but difficult if you haven't take measure theory before. Do Math and Finance, or better, Math and CS. Minor won't cut it.

Oh, if you have time, take some econometrics too.
