Do anyone know who wrote it and why they stopped?
There is huge space for anyone to fill it and write blogs of a similar vein. Unfortunately I am not eloquent or creative enough to write them myself.

Not sure if you're talking about the first disappearance around 08 or the more recent one. He came back again a few years ago to write it from a Silicon Valley perspective but I think that stopped.
I can only guess it got difficult to come up with more good material. Maybe he'll be like Larry David and get the itch again every few years.
