What happens to Undergrads who fail to secure an internship?

As we all know, **Investment Banking is a highly competitive industry to get into. **Not everybody goes to Wharton or Harvard Level Ivy Leagues, for most of us we'll probably go to a University of California Berkeley/USC/Duke/Notre Dame/Brown University type of ranking school, which is nothing to be ashamed of. Top firms such as Centerview and Lazard are filled with people from Ivy Leagues who secured a job after interning at an investment bank their sophomore years.

Now the question is, to those who have majored in Economics/Accounting/Finance/Business Econ or anything similar, what do you do if you FAIL to secure an internship your Junior Year. I'm talking about even failing to get an unpaid internship at a Wealth Management Firm. The facts are that there are more applicants than spots, at even the lowest investment banks, and those aren't even a guarantee to get in.

So what do you do if you are in that position?

1. -Let's say Investment Banking was your goal from day 1, and you chose your major because you wanted to be an analyst.
2. -You were in the finance club at your school, (I've spoken to someone at a top investment bank that they don't have the resources to train somebody from the ground up, and they want someone with investment banking experience beforehand, and they'll teach you the rest.) even though this isn't sufficient enough in the experience department for top investment banks.
3. -You failed to secure any interviews or internships, in your junior year, (Although you go to a top university.)

The facts are that this is a competitive field, and there are many candidates who have already had experience from their sophomore years, got family connections, or go to a Harvard/Wharton and already have offers. For those of us who aren't as lucky, what do you do?

Thanks.

Absolutely, username checks out. What do you do if you havent eaten in 3 days and you have been unsuccessful in catching any fish? You KEEP FUCKING FISHING. If you really want it, there is no option but to keep trying and applying, every day, until you can safely say that youve reached out to every single boutique/MM/BB and every location across the US. Still no dice? Hope you're ready to move to Canada.

They work their tail off to find a job and hopefully find something that is in line with what they wanted. Then they continue to work at getting their dream job.

Only two sources I trust, Glenn Beck and singing woodland creatures.
