What Hotel when going to Vegas?
What hotel do you stay at when going to Vegas? I plan on going to Vegas soon and wanted some input from some of you Vegas regulars.
Here are some that I am interested in
Cosmopolitan Wrap Around

MGM SkyLoft

I doubt i could get this room but it looks nice to look at..
Im thinking about the Wynn. Share your experiences. Thanks!
Cosmo, Encore, Mirage
don't go to aria.
why not aria? Isint Aria one of the newer hotels. The city center looks really nice. Whats wrong with Aria?!?! I was thinking about Aria as well
I stayed at the Aria last Memorial Day weekend. I highly recommend it. I read online there had been some issues with theft at the hotel so I just locked my valuables in the safe when I was out and no problems. But more to the point, it's an awesome hotel that is located in the middle of the strip near the Bellagio. Pricing was among the lowest on the strip and I got a GREAT deal on a suite with a 360 view. I forget how much it was but seemed reasonable -- maybe 400 a night for a sick two bedroom suite and I split it with a friend. Would highly recommend. Epic weekend, took me almost a week to fully recover.
Other than that, just go with price. They are pretty much all the same. Anything near the middle of the strip at a good price is where you want to be.
That is bad news for MGM Resorts. They spent over $7 billion building the Citycenter and will need to roll over the construction loans in 2013. Aria is supposed to be the signature flagship hotel of that complex. I wonder what the property's revenue per room is like. If what you described is typical then MGM is in for a heap of troubles---to all the recap guys out there here is a prime multi-billion dollar deal waiting for you, better get on the phone with Jim Murren and his lieutenants.
Could be but this was May of 2011 (my post was kind of poorly worded in that regard, I probably confused you). I don't know what current pricing is. Doing Vegas about once every 5 years is enough for me. That town is whack.
Location's more important than how nice the room is... try to stay near the middle of the strip
There really isn't much meaningful difference. Pick a price and go from there.
Never stayed at the Aria so can't comment.
Cosmo. Get one of the condos that they now rent out as hotel rooms. They have a kitchen and everything.
yea i keep leaning more and more to getting a wrap around at the cosmo. The views are ridiculous
I stayed at the MGM Grand which is more at the bottom of the strip. It was a bit rundown at the time, but they recently did a full renovation so it should be nicer. Has a sick pool area during the daytime. Anyway, I agree it is better to stay towards the middle of the strip so Mirage, Bellagio, Caesars, Cosmopolitan are good choices if you can shell out. However, there is a shuttle that runs up the strip behind MGM Grand so that's not a bad choice either.
I heard Wynn and Encore are awesome and they have the best clubs but they are way up on the strip. I think you can't really go wrong in Vegas anyway. You won't be spending much time in the room so go for location.
I stayed at the Luxor once and it was fine.
circus circus!
i second this.. seriously, how can you pass up free nightly circus shows??
The Venetian - Although its pretty much at the end of the strip. The Tao (located in Venetian) day pool parties are out of this world.
If not, Cosmo is a good choice because its at the center of the strip.
Motel Six. Or better yet, save some money and go to Yonkers where they still have $5 minimums on blackjack.
Hooters Hotel & Casino is awesome. Cheap rates, just off the strip, really nice views (if you get my drift) and abundance of chicken wings.
Hands down, stay at the Cosmopolitan. City Center is okay, kind of sucks, I would avoid Aria. Hottest girls in Vegas usually at the Palms which is off the strip but about a 5-10 minute cab ride to the center of Vegas. Bellagio is nice as well. But fucking stay at Cosmo, you won't regret it.
+1 Palms is great, definitely the youngest crowd. Venetian is also a great deal, rooms are huge for what you pay and its got a great location on the strip
I stayed at the Palazzo last yr and upgraded to the Prestige suite and it was great. the free booze during Happy Hour alone paid for the cost
Wynn, Encore, Cosmo and Venetian. Venetian is my go-to. Check out Tao Beach (as mentioned) and XS Nightclub (if Heaven was nightclub, it would be XS).
@Illini - If you do Vegas, you have to do it big. Otherwise, you might as well go to Taj Mahal in Jersey City.
stratosphere ftw
wynn, cosmo or venetian
Stayed at Wynn, MGM, Venetian and liked the Wynn the most so far.
But I love the thrill rides on the Stratosphere tower.
Wynn, Encore, Cosmo if you have a big budget. Mirage if not. I've never stayed at Aria but was severely disappointing with their casino. They do have one of the best bloody mary's I've ever had though.
Aria Sky Suites are pretty sick. There wasn't much younger nightlife around the hotel as people tend to exodus to the Belagio, Wynn, Encore, etc...
I don't really see much of a difference in the casino games between hotels except for the dealers. I've definitely have better dealers than the ones staffed at the Aria.
IP, SB for the empire city reference... unless of course I misunderstood you, in which case you just got a free SB, lol
Following up on this thread, I am trying to decide between the Sunday Fountain Brunch at the Jasmine at The Bellagio and the Jazz brunch at the CountryClub at Wynn. Anyone tried these places before? I heard that the CountryClub guarantees you a much nicer view while with the Jasmine you only get the magnificent view of the Bellagio Fountain if you are seated next to the window.

Hotel/Suite suggestions for a bachelor party of ten.
Motel 6
You're gonna need that extra money for hookers.
Thanks, but we aren't really ballin' on a budget.
We were going to get a suite at the Palms (I think they're even called Bachelor Party suites) for mine, but we had too many guys that were just maybes. A bunch ended up coming and we just had random crappy rooms which we all regretted. The prices weren't too bad either, but make sure to find out about their alcohol policy. I seem to remember some sort of wierd policy about only buying their expensive catered alcohol.
Most people will laugh at this and I have no idea of the price, but the suites at Bally's are HUGE. The decor was old and nothing great, but my buddy had one comped for a weekend (no idea what the name of the suite was) and it was massive - ideal for lots of people and some entertainment.
If you have a price target, that would probably help a lot.
Thanks, I've been looking into the Palms. Think the Bachelor suites are called Playpen Suites, maybe. Probably could drop 2,500 a night. Anyone stayed at the Skylofts at MGM Grand?
Big Bill's gamblin hall and saloon was pretty fun
Wynn, Encore, Bellagio, Venetian
Go to the Wynn or Encore and don't look back. You should get a three tower suites ($500-600 a night) and upgrade to two/three Salon Suites that are ~2000 square feet for $125/night. Best deal you can do, plus the room is pretty sweet.
Palms would be the other way to go. They've got all sorts of themed suites specifically for bachelor parties.
so you can have that ballin of a room for under 800??
Absolutely. Just did it two weekends ago. The trick is having a tower suite already booked, which includes its own check in, conceirge, etc. If salon suites are available, the upgrade charge is just $125. It's pretty sick. You do, however, run the risk of the hotel not having those suites (have to do this at check in), in which case you're SOL, but the other suites are still pretty nice at 800 or so square feet.
I have a comped room at Planet Hollywood for mine in April. Not really worried about the room as I'll rarely be in it. To each their own.
