What is acquisition finance & how to prepare for interview
Anybody have thoughts on what would likely be asked in an Acquisition finance interview? From what i've gathered, it's different from the bank's LevFin group but there is some overlap between the group. My thoughts on how to best prepare : basic I-banking interview questions with some emphasis on credit analysis, possibly LBO questions. thanks
it's basically LevFin except you focus mostly on Debt used in acquisitions (mainly LBOs) instead of regular refinancings. So it's a specific focus within LevFin.
Is there a reason for this distinction? Like specialized knowledge? Or is this distinction mostly a way to segment up dealflow?
Interview Acquisition Finance (Originally Posted: 12/28/2014)
Hi everyone,
I'm having an interview for a job in Acquisition finance in a few weeks and I'm a little bit struggling to find specific sources / info to prepare for it.
I mean, Acquisition finance is, I guess, similar to any structured debt job but in an acquisition context. But are there specificities I should know about in order to be fully prepared for the interview ?
Do you guys have any sources that I could read (regarding types of debt products we usually see in acquisition finance, main problematics etc.) ? I guess I can also have a look at guides about leveraged finance, even though acquisition finance is not necessarily leveraged ? Anything else ?
Thanks !
Prep the same way you would for a leveraged finance interview. I'd read the S&P leveraged loan and HY bond primers, understand how LBOs work, bridge financing, capital structure, 1st/2nd lien vs bank/bond structure, etc.
