What is your favorite Sport?
Hi everyone, I was wondering what is your favorite sport. Mine's Basketball (and Kobe Bryant). I also play pool and bowling, not much though.
(My dad used to be in the volleyball team back in college, but he never taught me how to play volleyball...)
What about you guys? Golf?
so what are you doing now that he retired?
I start practicing playing pool and bowling. I mean I still play basketball and it's always gonna be my favorite.
You located in the states? I found it's difficult to actually get a good 5v5 pick up run in, if you're in europe...
Soccer, Zinedine Zidane - Real Madrid
Agreed, soccer is the best sport out of them all, especially Real Madrid.
The guy sitting across my desk doesn't agree. He says hail barca...I've been an Arsenal fan for more than 10 years, but now I rarely see their games...
Saw a match on a school trip in Emirates Stadium in 2010. Wolverhampton vs Arsenal. 94th minute winner by Bendtner. Truly remarkable experience, and that's coming from an American.
Elite opinion
to watch or play? to watch is champions league soccer. to play is basketball or golf.
Play? I used to watch soccer too, but almost never played it.
Wrastling! Jk, I'm a lifelong boxing fan.
Muay Thai
Hockey, watching and playing.
Soccer. Champions League and World Cup especially are a joy to watch
Agreed man. Greatest sport in the world. What's your favorite team(s)?
Manchester United. The EPL this year is going to be insanely competitive
MMA. I love me some UFC. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is my favorite martial art. I know a guy who knew a few people of the Gracie family.
Thoughts on McGregor and Mayweather
Mayweathers going to win. McGregor has little to no boxing experience. His net worth is going to double overnight so he's going to win in theory >:)
Rugby has always been one of my favorite sports, it's like football for ADD people.
Muay Thai, Jiu-Jitsu, Snowboarding, Running, Cycling, Surfing
Golf, although I played in college and it certainly shaped my career path so I'm pretty biased. Still, nothing like swinging your way out of a hangover.
If you don't mind sharing, how did golf shape your career? I've always thought that owning a few clubs would be awesome, but very hard to be profitable. Have heard of a few PE firms that focus on courses though.
I know Apollo is buying ClubCorp, and Arcis owns a number of clubs. I got a partial scholarship to play which obviously helps coming out of school, and the majority of the networking I do tends to be on the golf course. Getting ready to enter the workforce is obviously a little daunting so getting advice from guys who have been successful can bring a little clarity to a 22 year old. Plus it's a great outlet, so I still try to play every Sat/Sun morning.
Played football in college (D1-AA) and now have permenant shoulder and knee problems. So it's golf from here on out but can't get enough of college football on Saturdays in the fall.
I played baseball and golf for about 12 years growing up. Always played basketball and football for fun.
I love watching Soccer and basketball the most. Recently got into Archery at school.
Archery sounds pretty cool
With golf and baseball, my hand-eye coordination has been pretty good, so it was easy to make the switch
Hockey is mine personally. Great mix of speed/skill and physicality.
Never saw anyone playing Hockey though. Sounds fun and seems to be fun. idk. I can only do 15 minutes of pool during lunch break everyday
Agree, in my opinion was one of the most athletically balanced sports out there! And that is why I loved playing the game
I love to watch boxing, and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is my favorite fighter. His logo is coincidentally my favorite group of the Street GS TMT, TBE.
lol
To watch: College Football. My school didn't have a team (Our president said he wouldn't even entertain the idea because it's a total waste of money. This was said during the same press meeting as he cut Tennis from the varsity sport list)
To play: Pool. I went to the College National tournament the last two years.
you must be really good at pool man. Any advice on a beginner like me? What videos/books to watch/read? Anyone's highlights to watch? Thx.
HAMB - Hit a Million Balls
Just focus on fundamentals, and if you've been practicing a lot but still seem to miss the easy ones, don't be afraid to change something. Just recently I realized I could shoot more accurately by turning my hips a bit from what I had been and it increased my shot-making by at least 10% which is good when you only miss a handful anyway.
If you're just starting out Dr. Dave on YouTube has some good stuff for beginners as does Tor Lowry (sp?).
Some time I think myself to otaku to go exercising, but I do enjoy figure skating in every contest. Anyway, the jogging is my favorite:).
nice, although I'm not sure what is otaku
:) otaku means like geek or nerd who obsessive interests, commonly the anime and manga fandom. Otaku (おたく/オタク?) is a Japanese.
Tennis rocks my world and is the best sport ever seen or played.
Candy Crush .............no pun intended
squash
To watch: Boxing or Football. Nothing quite like the heavyweight division.
To play: Golf. Been playing for 10 years & the club championship is mine to lose this year.
Soccer hands down. Can talk about it all day. If anyone watches it PM me. I do enjoy watching basketball though. If you mean in terms of actually playing, it's soccer and basketball, and ultimate frisbee. Ultimate is a very underrated sport. Unfortunate it's not that big in the US.
I used to compete in amateur boxing for about 7 years; then I realized I need to preserve my brain power so I can play zero sum game which I play every day now.
incredible experience
Béisbol let's go Blue Jays.
... Yes they suck this year, we get it.
Fuckin love football (mostly just college). Surprise there isn't more love for the sport. Only started watching a few months back (intl student), but damm some of those RB's and LB's are the definition of "alpha".
I have played basketball for 7 years and i used to love it, untill i started training martial arts! I have been an addict for almost 15 yrs. I love the Adrenalin of a fight and the respect afterwards
jaja come to China for martial arts dude
Soccer for both watching and playing.
Boxing and powerlifting at home, surf and snowboard in trips
Used to love playing hockey in adult leagues. But since moving to NYC where you live in a tiny apartment with no balcony or garage and can't air out your gear between games and the fact that Chelsea Piers charges a billion dollars a season, I switched to basketball.
Tennis and badminton. I got started with badminton, because the racket was easier for me to hold when I started playing. Both are awesome to play, but I find badminton more fun to watch than tennis. I would like to give squash a try soon.
Tennis, but I also like to play basketball with my buddies
Also forgot to mention, next to my hockey watching, I have recently gotten into yacht racing. Those things haul ass and it's pretty dangerous from what I have read.
Cycling, rowing, tennis. I dabble in table tennis and badminton but more difficult to play. Trying to get into rock climbing and then mountaineering. Also, want to try BJJ or maybe some type of krav maga.
I enjoy watching soccer (#1), f1, cycling, rowing, football, march madness of course.
rowing is pretty cool. I played tennis for a year (somehow) but now I have no idea how to do it. It was about 10 years ago
Football (or soccer as it's called in the US) and Cricket. I'm from the UK.
Yes yes cricket woop! A lot of people find this boring, but to those with the acquired taste, where you at?? Did you watch the champions trophy this year?
Boxing is also another fav to do/watch.
Yeah I was able to catch the Champions Trophy. Was pretty shocked tbh, thought either England or India had in the bag, only for Pak, who I had down to be knocked out at the group stages to go ahead and win the entire thing.
It's a shame that when most people think of cricket, they only think of the Test formats. These are obviously a very acquired taste and most people wouldn't find it that interesting but I do wish more people would give T20 a chance, pretty sure the average sports fan would find that exciting enough.
It depends. My favorites to watch are Football and Soccer. My favorites to play are Soccer and Golf. My favorites to attend are Football and Baseball.
To Play: Cricket, Golf and American Football (well, before tearing my ACL 3 times). I've been playing both cricket and golf for my respective clubs for the past 12 years and haven't enjoyed playing as much as I am at the moment!
To Watch: American Football, Cricket and Golf Being based in the UK, I do get some enjoyment out of ironing my shirts for the week on a sunday night with the NFL on and which ever tournament is being played across the pond on the PGA!
I went to bowling with my friends last Friday. It was my third time and I hit a 130 with a 0 for the 1st round. not sure if you call it the 1st round or something else... my friends say that I'm a quick learner for bowling and it feels great ! But I know a girl who can hit 5 strikes in a row and get 200 points...
Tennis. It's great cardio, requires a lot of finesse to be good at, is pretty accessible from a cost/person standpoint, and if you stay in decent shape you can basically play it all your life
yea I agree. But maybe basketball is more accessible from a cost standpoint? I mean you need to pay for tennis courts to play right
It's usually not that hard to find public tennis courts in my experience, and you need more people to play basketball
archery don't watch sports
Haha first one here that doesn't watch sports ! Caught on site
I would theoretically. I played basketball growing up and could get behind basketball. Don't even know the rules of baseball and football. Can't see myself watching baseball. I was raised by immigrant women and was a loner all my life. Nobody ever sat down and watched sports with me. Probably a good thing. I'd be like some superfan character with my personality
Rugby, golf, and basketball.
Coaching son's basketball is the most rewarding, in my opinion.
Hockey bruh! Where all you hockey goons at?
My favorite sport is Cricket.
That's rare though
Surprised no one has mentioned Lacrosse yet.
You need a special field (probably not called a field) to play Lacrosse right? I don't think many people had those when they grew up
It's roughly the same size as a Football field with a couple additional lines on it. Most newer multi-purpose turf fields have them already.
To be fair I grew up in the north east where it was arguably one of the bigger sports to play.
as much as I love basketball, I have been training martial arts for almost 15 years and combat sports are my favorite!
To watch:Golf (PGA), Basketball (NBA), Soccer (Uk premier league). To do: Golf, Tennis, Basketball, Soccer (7vs7), Baseball.
Lacrosse and Hockey. I'm surprised you have so many bankers in one place without the coolest sports!
Haha, never seen people play those sports, but they sound cool
Watch: Baseball, golf, hockey, motorsports
To play: Baseball, golf, rugby, motorsports, tennis, swimming

Drinking.
