what job to get your foot in the door?

Hello,
I am just starting college this year and am looking to get into something with investment banking, knowing I cant get any kind of internship or job, is there any other small time gig that will prepare me and give me an edge for when going into internships and full time jobs after college? what jobs can I go for at banks around here that will get me in the door of the financial world and help prepare me?

thanks!

what exactly do you want him to search for, "jobs to get your foot in the door"? believe it or not the search function on this site is not exactly Google-caliber, it doesnt answer all your questions as easily as you may think. dont be so rude to someone asking a legit question

as for the OP, are you starting college at a target? and for this small-time gig ur talking about, do u mean during school or for the summer after freshman year?

my advice is to get heavily involved in 3 major organizations on campus and pursue leadership positions/active roles in all of them, and aspire to become president in one of them. one of these organizations should be business-related. this is very important because it gives you good experience to put on your resume as a Freshman.

i hope youve been working throughout high school, because you should put that experience on your resume and quantify your work and make it sound impressive. i worked as a cell-phone salesman, and on my resume i wrote how much revenue i brought in, which i calculated to be $80,000. not bad for a 17-year old.

get a resume together and start applying for internships like crazy. take advantage of all your connections. its very possible to get an internship following your freshman year, im an incoming sophomore and i did an internship at Morningstar this summer. i started applying for jobs in March (which is a late start) and sent a resume/cover letter out to over 30 companies before i finally got this job, which i interviewed for during the first week of June. never give up hope, keep trying.
