What schools should I consider transfering to?

I'm currently a rising sophomore at a non target in upstate New York. I was set to transfer into Stern in the fall but I fucked some things up and couldn't afford to put down the deposit, let alone and the whole price tag. I've pretty much exhausted my alumni network at this point and I'm going to take my chances at another school, hopefully with more street presence.

I don't think I can land at an Ivy but I'm going to take my chances at Cornell. What schools should I apply to with roughly the same level of acceptance as NYU? In Boston which school has better recruitment out of BU, BC, and Northeastern?

If you had to make a list of second tier schools to apply to based on recruitment what schools would be on it?

Unless you go to any ivy, there's really no schools in Boston with better wall street placement than BC/BU. Not sure about smaller schools with strong alumni connections. Although I've heard of people from schools like Brandeis, Babson, and Tufts making it

Syracuse or U of R? or a SUNY?

NO. none of them.

BC>BU but both of them are great

BU is waste of money. Either go to SUNY (and save money) or top tier like Cornell, NYU, or Columbia (which are actually worth the money).

GPA, extracurricular, and internship performance are most important no matter where you came from. BU isn't going to land you the job as opposed to SUNY. Columbia just might, not to mention it will serve you throughout your lifetime.

Fixed that for you. Both are seriously non-target. You could probably get into a Boston boutique after having crushed and networked at BC but you're still competing with Harvard and MIT kids. If you're going to drop that kind of dough, you need to aim a little higher. Add Georgetown as well as UMich and UVA. I know that's outside of your range but the ROI is way higher than BC/BU.

Didn't really mean they are GREAT for IBD, just meant they are reputable enough for the OP. I doubt he could get into umich/uva

I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

They're just so expensive for what they offer... UCLA maybe?

I agree. UCLA is also very expensive. Try looking at some target (or targetish) state schools like Indiana University, University of Texas, and UVa (like you've mentioned).

All of those offer great business programs at a relatively low price (even out of state). I know that IU has a pretty high IBanking placement and so does UVa.

It's those non-Ivy/top target schools, with the high price tag (i.e. BU, BC, Wake Forest), that waste your money. And I'm not bashing those schools at all... I'm just saying that IMO their ROI typically isn't the best.

I'm posting in this oldish thread so I don't need to submit another new thread..

So I've started Sophomore year, still getting blown of by alumni, and twisted any experience I can find to make it finance related to fit on my resume, and I'm slowly putting together my list of schools to transfer to.

I've got my targets, and semi targets, but I haven't decided on what safeties will be my best bet.. I've narrowed it down to Stony Brook, Binghamton, and Baruch (I'm open to other schools but I'm instate so suny/cuny seems my best bet). I'm positive that I will get into all three of these, should I just opt for baruch or would stony brook or binghamton offer my any better opportunities?
