I'm a Senior at a moderately large but highly ranked state school (still a non-target I think). In the long term I would like to work within PE or at a Hedge Fund. I just received an offer from a very small (PE fund that was incubated by another university. Very shortly I'll interview with a boutique investment bank as well.
My question is, if I receive an offer from the IB, what position should I take? This PE firm is small and seems like it functions a lot like a start up. Because it's so small I think that I'll get a lot of hands on experience. It's incubator is also a top 15 business school, so presumably I'll be around some very smart people. This IB fund on the other hand would offer a more traditional IB intern experience, and iBanking is also obviously the traditional route to the buy side.
I'm not sure how I should weight these firms. At the moment I only have PWM Research experience, and I've been working at the same firm since they offered me an internship position this most recent May. Both will make my resume more attractive but I don't think either have names that carry weight.
Sorry if this is incoherent, I'm currently in the middle of finals and have not slept a lot.
