What should I do at this point?

I'm going into my junior year at TCU and have had no internship or experience. I was supposed to have an internship this summer doing wealth management in Beverly Hills, but because of budgeting issues they were no longer able to afford another intern. I have an interest in investment banking, but with no experience it's hard to be sure. I already secured a job selling leases at the apartment complex I will be living at next year and it should take about 20ish hours a week. I've looked into internships this fall in order to better set my self up for the summer, but it's difficult to find something investment banking that isn't in Houston. I understand taking a full schedule of classes, my 20ish hours a week at my job, and a part time internship is a lot, but I'm motivated to put in the hard work and get it done. At this point what would you guys do in my position? Also, if anyone knows a firm in the Fort Worth area that takes in interns during the school year please let me know.

I would recommend you start networking for an IB SA 2019 position ASAP. Some processes have come and gone, but there are a good amount of banks that are still going. Try reaching out to any alumni in IB and ask for a phone call so you can learn more about IB. As far as internship experience is concerned, don't worry too much about it. I know people that placed at EB, BB, and MM firms with zero internships, but were active on campus (1-4 clubs, 1-3 leadership positions).

Would be a great idea to read some books and do some research about investment banking. If you're genuinely interested, I would start reaching out to alumni, cold-email, and apply for 2019 SA. For the fall term, it would be smart to find an internship in finance, doesn't necessarily have to be in investment banking and use the skills you learn from there to be more prepared for future interviews, etc. If you find a part time internship, I think it's a better idea to drop your other job at the apartment complex. If that's not feasible, it's possible to take on all of it, just need to allocate your time well.

if you are going to work in investment banking, you will be working 90 hours a week (15 hours a day, 6 days a week leaves 8 hours for sleep plus 1 hour for commute...plus one day off..usually sunday). So I'd suggest you start working towards 80 hours a week now to get into the habit, which will also help you get the job in the 1st place. I suspect that school, plus 20hrs a week, plus part time intern will still be well below 80 hours a week.

just google it...you're welcome
