What should I do next summer???

My school offers an awesome internship program that places kids in Hong Kong, Sydney or Singapore that I'm super interested in, but I'm worried it may not be the best route to take if I want to recruit for IB or CorpFin next year. Also I think living abroad would be awesome, but I was curious to see what people thought.

1) Yes, I'd finish classes in April, take classes for two weeks after finals and then take an 8 week internship from May-July.

2) I think the internships are pretty flexible - you can choose what industry you want to try and be placed at and then they pick based on your interests. I know previously kids interested in consulting worked at ICF International and another worked at Herbalife as a financial intern.

Thanks for the advice though, I'm gonna see how recruiting goes in the fall, but I'm most likely gonna apply to the study abroad and see how it goes from there.

I think you should go abroad, I did it and it was an incredible year. I have many friends who regret no going abroad for a semester/year.

As CRE said, you have an internship already and a future one, as well as family connections which will definitely put you get a step ahead. Also, having some form of experience abroad - especially in Asia - is great for your CV and even in social aspects.

Top target state school?

Anyhow, study abroad. You already have some internships, you will get another the summer between junior and senior year,, and at the very least your family connections will certainly help when it comes to full time recruiting. I really regret never studying abroad and taking off to a foreign country for a few months isn't an opportunity that will occur very often in life.
