What should I do now? (non-target school international graduate with some irrelevant experience)

Hi, everyone. Here are my background and situation:

  • graduated from a non-target school near NYC with a 3.8 GPA, double majors with one minor, had some on-campus leadership and competition experience

  • since I'm an international student with the first major in math, my job has to be directly related to math, so I cannot do S&T or advisor-related jobs. And because I'm international, most of the time HR will tell me "I'll check with the team for visa issue" during the interview and never get back to me. Lucky or not, I still got a financial analyst job from a "fintech" frim. Even though I don't like it, I still need the salary to live.

  • after one year at the fintech, I joined a small shitty consulting firm as an analyst. I kept looking for opportunities but now it's even harder for me due to the visa issue. First, now I'm on the stem-extension OPT, so I can only work for an e-verified company, even some MMs are not. Second, I cannot be a contractor on the STEM OPT. I've received dozens of contractor opportunities from staffing companies but I cannot do it.

Now I keep submitting applications and reaching out to alumni but it doesn't work. My resume, behavioral and technical interview questions are all well-prepared. Should I aim towards MO or BO to make it easier to get into banks or just keep networking to go for a FO? Hope you guys can give me some suggestions on what I should do now. Thanks!
