What should I do with my personal portfolio?
Currently a student heading into my Summer Analyst position in 2021. I have a portfolio on Robinhood worth about $10k (just from my internships in the past two summers) and am wondering what should I do with this portfolio? I know that IBs generally have pretty strict compliance rules and so will they require me to liquidate all my stocks before I start?
Any advice appreciated. Thank you. I know this is a bit early but just want to plan out for personal finance purposes.
You don’t need to liquidate anything. You will just need to get your trades pre-approved (unless it’s an etf/mutual fund). Just disclose the account and you will be fine.
Not familiar with IB but probably just this hopefully, that would be really annoying having to liquidate it and park it all in an ETF or something.
Personally did not have to disclose anything for the summer analyst gig, just didn't make any trades during the summer out of an abduance of caution since firm dind't talk about intern trading regulation. 95% chance you simply have to disclose the account and won't need to liquidate anything (can't be accused of insider trading if you had the company stock before starting).
