What should I do/study at MIT?
I will be attending MIT for undergrad starting this fall. What would be the best thing for me to major in for IB? I am mostly considering finance, econ, a major that combines CS/econ/data science, or possibly some kind of engineering. Should I just go with finance (or double with econ), or double in finance and something in STEM, or just something in STEM? I've heard that it's best to just pick the major that will give you the highest GPA (which would be finance/econ here), but I've also heard that doing something like CS/math/engineering would show my quantitative skills and make more sense for a school like MIT.
Also, I'm planning to play a varsity sport at MIT. Is it true that athletes are favored in recruiting? Right now I'm planning to play for all four years, but I'm a little worried that I might have trouble keeping my GPA up, especially if I go for a harder major. Would being an athlete outweigh a slightly lower GPA? And is there anything else I should pursue, besides internships and business clubs?
.
Wouldn’t Sloan be the best route to IB?
