What stands out to you in a prospective applicant that makes you want to help them out?

After recently getting my first FT banking job, I'm finding myself on the other side of networking for the first time. It's a bit strange to get these emails because a month ago I was in these guys' shoes, hoping some overworked schnoz would give me half an hour so I could "learn more about his experiences". I do want to help these guys because, coming from a non-target, networking was the biggest reason for why I got my current job. Those of you who were once in a similar position, what stands out to you about a person that makes you want to help them out? Do you try to help out the stellar guy with a perfect resume, the scrappy kid trying to make the best of his situation, the hopeful who might not have the best grades but wants to learn, or someone who reminds you of yourself when you recruited?
