What technique should I master for IB Summer Interviews ?

Hi everybody and happy new year,

I am currently an undergraduate in a French business school and I obtained an internship in a M&A boutique, in Paris, starting in July for 6 months. After this experience, I will follow with my Master 2 first Semester and look forward obtaining a summer internship for the Summer 2018.

Until my internship this July, I have not much to do. Thus, I decided that I should start preparing for my Summer Internship's applications for this Summer / September.

I already learnt a lot for my internship regarding technical knowledge (valuation methods, financial accountability ...) but I know that the level asked for Summer Internships is higher.

I turn to you today so you can help me highlight the important things I must master for my interviews. I started a list on my own and look forward to getting help for you completing it.

Here is my list :

  • Financial Accountability
  • Valuation Methods
  • Bridges
  • Investment Bank Structure
  • Vault : Mergers & Acquisitions
  • brainteasers
  • Numericals
  • Essays
  • General Culture & Financial
  • Deal process

Thanks in advance for your help.

Purchase an interview guide from either WSO or Mergers & Inquisitions. Go through the guide in detail and make sure you understand the concept, not just the answer. For example, that might mean understanding that an increase in assets represents a cash outflow, not just being able to rattle off that change NWC is subtracted from free cash flow in a DCF. If you can accomplish that, you will be further ahead than 90% of your fellow interviewees.
