What to do with a poor MBA?
Hello everyone,
I am a May 2018 MBA graduate who recently joined WSO. Little bit of background: I graduated from a non-target in Florida with a degree in finance and am currently finishing up an MBA at a non-target in the Midwest. I am an athlete who graduated early so it made sense for me to continue my education while it was still being paid for and pursue a graduate degree. Unfortunately, the good MBAs and MSFs require work experience so I was limited in my choice of graduate schools to continue playing for. I was accepted into an Ivy out of high school, have a very competitive gmat score, and a 3.8. I ended up choosing the schools that provided the best golf opportunities and that decision has come back to bite me. I have only one summer of experience at a boutique Asset Management firm but plenty of equity research experience from student investment funds at both schools. I am confident that if I can get interview opportunities I will do well but my resume holds me back from even getting to that point. Any advice from anyone? Everyone seems to be steering me towards corporate finance or advising but that's not where I want to be.
