What to expect as Sales and Trading Intern (GS)
Hi all,
I'm a college junior interning at GS Securities this summer and hoping to land on some of the more fundamental/principal desks for my rotations.
What should I expect in terms of the networking process to get onto desks, and what are some tips for success as an intern. The rotation is only 3 weeks long so how do I ensure that I get the rotation in the first place and make a strong enough impression to get the FT offer.
Thanks!
wutangclancarryout, hey, look at the bright side, at least you didn't get a ton of monkey shit thrown at you...here is my best guess on threads that might be helpful:
Or maybe the following users have something to say: ThomasBoyd LM82 Tide15
Fingers crossed that one of those helps you.

Control what you can, be positive, be innovative (at GS you have to stand out, especially in S/T), no matter what they say.. do not concentrate on the "# of spots on the desk/intern comp they like to create. My classmate did not get a return because he was too focused on a meaningless pissing contest, rather than adding the most value to the desk/division.
Thanks, really appreciate the color. When you can do so little without your Series exam, what is the best way to think about adding value to the desk? How much do things like sending out regular market/news update emails or summarizing calls actually make a difference when trying to stand out?
