What to expect with this weird interview HF process?

hi folks - need some insight here. So for background context

  1. I have been contacted by a 3rd part recruiter about role in a hedge fund - he connected me with the HF HR/Recruiter
  2. I spoke with the HF recruiter   - that went well
  3. HF recruiter connected me with the head of the team - interview went really well/bonded/etc. mentioned I expect to here from them.
  4. got a request from HF recruiter to a.) do a writing doc  2.) coding test

I feel comfortable with my writing but a coding test...i've never really done that before. My coding experience is googling a problem to solve what i need to get the job done.

You guys think I am done for? From what you've seen, do HF put a lot of weight in coding test interview?  I've read that its used more to filter people at the start of the process. Where in my case, I have already connected with the head of the team.

Connecting with the head of the team doesn’t mean much if you can’t do the work. There are many candidates I have liked personally that just couldn’t do the work I needed them to do.

Is this a systematic fund? Quant position? Did you have coding experience on your resume? A requirement on the job spec?

If yes to the above then it is important. If not then maybe just a small input into the overall process.
