What type of Excel skills should I pick up prior to an Asset Management internship?
I would like to read up and go through some of the common practices an Asset Management intern would perform at work. I do have a basic understanding of financial modeling, but I'm sure Asset management requires a different set of excel skills.
If anybody can direct me to some links, it would be great.
VBA. Get the in a nutshell or for dummies books if you don't know it and you'll be ahead of the majority of interns in asset management.
As an ex apprentice in asset management I have to second that - VBA is really very helpful and would make you stand out as not everybody knows programming
Asset Management - Institutional Clients - Really need some Excel pointers in regards to asset management. (Originally Posted: 07/20/2014)
Hi Guys,
I am hopefully starting in Asset Management soon on to sell side dealing with Institutional clients. And I was want to be as less a burden as possible in the beginning. My Excel skills are ok but I was more interested in knowing, what should I focus on mastering before starting a job like this. To make a long story short, what functions are in Excel are need to know and what other functions are good to know to maybe separate from the rest.
If I could get an answer from someone in a similar position or knows the topic well.
Thanks again, all relevant info would be greatly appreciated.
