What type of hair products do (male) bankers use?
To those bankers with spiked up hair looking all good and sharp, what type (and brand) of gel and other hair products do you use on a regular basis?
The gel I currently use is crappy. The effect dies out in the early afternoon.
I'm not a banker, but I used D:fi D:struct molding creme its the best shit
http://www.amazon.com/Dfi-Struct-Pliable-Molding-Creme/dp/B000GX57BI
this probably touches on what you are looking for
http://www.amazon.com/gp/richpub/syltguides/fullview/170R297X1SU1
I haven't seen that many bankers wearing that type of hair product. I used to in high school...
I'd say it's time to update that hair. I like to use American Crew "Fiber."
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EZZVQY/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd…
I let it dry then mess it up and style it (only takes 5 min). That gives a bit more of a styled look without that "wet" sheen to it. You can still do a lot of the same stuff with it, it just doesn't look like you have a ton of crap in your hair.
I shave my head. It makes things very easy.
olafenizer hit the nail on the head
Best stuff I've ever used:
http://www.sebastianinspires.com/en_US/products/form/product.jsp?id=100…
Jack Black - Body-Building Hair Gel
I swear by it. I swear; buy it.

Another vote here for American Crew Fiber. You don't need much, it's got pretty good hold, and most importantly - it dries without sheen, so you don't look like a douche.
hair product = guido
go natural
And yet another vote for American Crew Fiber. Be a man.
Why is this in the Bullpen?
KMS
Sometimes I will use a little American Crew if my hair is getting longer and I don't have time to brush in the morning. I keep a bottle at my desk; walk in the door looking like Kramer, sit down looking a little more professional.
rogainne
Tally another for American Crew Fiber for all the reasons everyone else has mentioned above.
garnier fructis surfer hair + american crew fiber.. gives like a really matte/semi-wet look & accents with the fiber.
American crew fiber paste
Good Store to Buy Hair Product (Originally Posted: 03/12/2015)
What stores do you recommend going to to find good hair product like paste?
Target or cvs is fine
Use this. Strong hold, and smells damn fantastic
Target, drug stores, Walmart, and even stores like TJMaxx/Marshalls have alot of hair products if you have the time to browse around
Are you looking for strong hold, shine, or what? What style are you looking for? If you want a slick-back type, go with a good pomade.
Ulta
My hair is exceptionally strong and and therefore requires a very strong hold in order to stay up. What sort of product is best? Gel, pomade, cream, wax, etc.
Superglue works best.
Internet is the best store
If you'd like a suggestion, check out Kevin Murphy's product line
+1... Gritty business works for me.
There are a few in soho. I have to look up the name next time I go.
I got some homemade stuff for you that will do wonders.
As previous posters have mentioned, Kevin Murphy's Gritty Business is great for stubborn hair like mine.
Check out American Crew - they have a bunch of different stuff with varying hold/shine. I personally like the Forming Cream with medium hold and medium shine. Makes your hair look nice without making it blatantly obvious that you have doused it in a cum-like substance.
That American Crew line is great for the back office look
walmart is fine
Yeah, check out LA Looks for that killer big wet extreme hold look
Actually, I'd recommend Vitamin Cottage/Natural Grocers. A lot of the cheap stuff has some nasty shit in it that can contribute to early hair loss. You'll pay a good bit more (2-3 times as much for some) but it's worth it.
John Allans
Got2be spiking glue or paul mitchell products
I totally spiked my hair with that in the 90's in elementary school when that was cool.
Why in the world would you use that?
I use Aveda. Really great stuff.
Paul Mitchell is good too, but I prefer Aveda.
Amazon is the best and buy stuff called Layrite. Water based so it washes out easy and doesnt flake like that garbage CVS junk.

Joking about wanting to use the same products as MDs but in all seriousness, I'm slowly beginning to realize that guys in this industry tend to be a lot more aware of their appearance and a little more picky about grooming products. I don't need to go all Patrick Bateman with several moisturizers and scrubs necessarily, but really do want to improve the general quality of the products I use and take a little more interest in grooming.
I feel like I'd get made fun of too much if I seriously asked guys at work what sort of shampoo, soap, gel, etc. they used. I'd rather you guys mock me here so I can hide behind my anonymity at least :)
I always used Head & Shoulders or some other similar run of mill shampoo and other similar brands of products when it came to gel, soap, etc. I'd like to start using better products but having grown up in a house full of women I'm not too familiar with the more "manly" brands out there. What do you guys use and recommend?
bacon grease
Gatsby Hair Wax
Real men dont "gel" their hair
there are three main premium "high-end" men's brands of mosturizers, lotions, shaving creams, shampoos, etc. Kiehl's, Anthony's and Zirh. I found (annecdoatally of course) zirh to be the most common among senior businessmen in NY. But aside from men-specific items (e.g. related to facial skin and/or shaving), most of the best products are women's. Nevertheless I give and receive zirh starter kit gift baskets every year...
Please don't wear gel. Gelling my hair was cool in middle school when i was trying to resemble a member of Green Day or any other punk band.
If I use anything, it is Tea Tree Shaping Cream by Paul Mitchell. Mostly if it's windy outside or I haven't had time to take a shower.
I just buy whatever shampoo doesn't make my hair fall out.
Again, please don't wear gel. We're not on the Jersey Shore.
Zirh is good shit and will keep you from looking 35 at age 23 after a year of working 12-18 hour days. Art of Shaving is good for shaving cream; if you shave often use a shaving brush it makes a huge difference.
I don't know about moisturizers and shampoos or any of that, but I use a shaving cream called Proraso that is far superior to Art of Shaving or any other brand found at DR.
Gatsby Hair Wax is very Asian of you, darrenhiggins... I'll admit though - it provides an excellent hold.
Menscience and Dior have an excellent range of products available at semi-painful to almost unbearably rip-off prices... the products really do work and make your skin feel and look good... whatever benefit they have is probably lost by the guilt I feel after dropping like $250 on skin care products on quarterly trips to the department score though...
If I were you - I'd avoid the nice stuff - it's habit forming.
would love to hear more product suggestions from guys with straight poufy hair. the pomades seem to look really greasy in my fine hair. i really have no clue what to do. i'm the type of guy who prefers a natural look. but i also want to look good, and feel like the op where i'd like to take better care of my appearance, but i don't know where to start or what to do.
garnier fructis baby, but my hair is naturally fantastic
I usually simply get a buzz cut. It's easy to take care of, it doesn't require any gels/waxes, and it costs about $8 for ~2 months.
I am a fan of Matrix and a lot of their products
american crew is actually pretty good product
Paul Mitchel is money. I usually mix up the hair gel days.
paul mitchel sucks
PM does not suck lol
I used to use Pomade, but I have switched back to gel. My poor fleeting hair needs delicate care :(

oooooohhhhh nice
bumble and bumble sumotech is really good as a wax with a natural look and good hold
I normally dont shower and just spray Axe all over myself. Hasnt been too bad so far.
Do some of you people really still use gel? You may as well use Soul Glo.
I do have straight, poofy, thin hair. I use the shaping cream. To the guy above with straight poofy hair, try Paul Mitchell tea tree shaping cream. It works best when your hair is 100% dry, otherwise your hair looks greasy. It almost looks like hair gel if you put it on when your hair is wet. It also makes your hair look a lot fuller.
I may try the American Crew Fiber, it seems like a lot of you guys have good reviews of it.
go for the flat not gloss
I second the bumble and bumble sumotech. Holds the shape you want without looking like you used any product
american crew fiber is great. As homo as it sounds, I like using a freezing hair spray as well. It gives you the hold of gel without the guido, goop, grease and shine.
youre all homos for using hair product like gel and creams and spray. just towel dry and let it ride... maybe drag a comb through it a few times a day.
on a side note, which is pretty homo itself, Sunsilk Daring Volume shampoo- gives my hair fantastic body
