What would be the upside of getting a job with Toll Bros as a PM & going thru their 22 month Project Management Program (APM)
What would be the upside of getting a job with Toll brothers and go through their 22 month (APM) Assistant Project Management program. For someone wanting to have their own development firm one day, would this be a smart move.
From their site:
APM trainees can look forward to tremendous opportunities for growth – most of our senior managers were promoted from within, and most started as assistant project managers.
This training program is divided into five major categories, covering the following topics:
Construction
• Scheduling & Ordering • Architecture Dept. Operations & Support
• Reporting • Customer Relations
• Basic Construction Knowledge • Permitting/Municipality Relations
• Manufacturing Plant Operations • Managing Subcontractors
Sales & Marketing
• Toll Sales Operations • Competitors
• Sales Techniques • Community Relations
• Quick Delivery Homes • Options
• Conveyancing Operations • Reporting
• Customer Relations • Broker Relations
• Marketing/Advertising
Finance & Reporting
• Purchasing/Contracting • Bookkeeping
• Profit & Loss • Cost Control System
Land
• Acquisition • Surveying
• Approvals • Dedicating
• Site Improvements • Improvements to Municipalities
Management, Motivational & Leadership Skills
• Motivating/Leading • Hiring/Termination
• Recruiting • Employee Retention
Of course it's a smart move
You'll be learning everything you'll want to know as a developer while getting paid... I don't see any downside
If you ask me... Development isn't learned in the classroom.. You need to be in the trenches
I have been interested in the same thing. When is the recruiting timeline for Toll Brothers? Does anyone know? I have looked it up and so far have not found any info on it.
Without looking too hard to this, make sure that if you get put on a homebuilding team that it's what you want to do. I know Toll Brothers does/has done a lot of other product such as high rise, but i can't tell from my cursory glance at your description whether you're talking about single family/becoming a homebuilder...
This is for building single family homes. I know they are doing high-rise work (acquisition then full develop) in Manhattan right now. The program is uber-competitive.

I hear toll has 2 high rise projects in the pipeline in philly as well
It'd be cool to work on those projects
Does anyone know their college recruiting timeline? Their website doesn't give much detail and under the careers tab the information is a little spotty. Would cold emails / networking be my best bet?
