What would you do?
Quick question for everyone on here. I was offered a boutique IB internship for the summer, but it is unpaid. I have opportunity with another boutique IB which is paid but not until late January. The problem is the internship that is unpaid wants an answer before January. Do I risk saying no to that internship and try for the paid internship. I don't have any IB experience prior and need one this summer.
Thanks everyone, really looking forward to some advice.
What year are you in? Is there a significant difference between the two banks with regards to learning experience/deal flow etc...? Can you afford to work for free?
I am a first year MBA student. Came right after my undergraduate for athletic purposes. At a semi target not top 25 though. I could work for free but obviously paid would be ideal to help save.
Take the unpaid internship and then renege if the paid one offers you a position. Just make sure there are no repercussions from your school's career office for that.
It's not through my school, through a lot of networking and cold calling. I was thinking about doing that but didn't know if that was a really bad thing to do
I would have no issue reneging on an unpaid position. Just be professional about it. Good luck.
