What would you do? Guidance needed

Hey WSO, I am new here and came here looking for insight on the different avenues within Finance, and wanted to narrow down what the hell I want to do the rest of my life. I have a few friends/relatives in a variety of fields within finance, and all have offered to pass my resume along and help anyway they can. Looking for some advice on where to start and what to do in preparation.

To give some insight on my background:
Graduated with finance degree(BS) in January 2016 (small, non ivy league)
Worked for financial planning subsidiary of Goldman Sachs (intern and then full time for one year)
Passed Level 1 of CFA December 2016
Been working at various bullshit jobs (outside finance) since exam result came in.

I am not looking for the most lucrative path, but rather one I will eventually enjoy.

Some of the things Im looking for direction on:
Where can I find out more explaining the tasks/duties of a given role within IB PE HF, etc.? Guides?
Are there guides or courses you recommend in order to prepare for interviews?
Financial modeling, software familiarity, certifications... what's relevant and powerful to have?

Any direction or insight is greatly appreciated.

C'mon, man. Be a little resourceful. There is so much information on WSO.

Start with the WSO Investment Banking Hall of Fame. Read every one of those threads. Then pick up Investment Banking by by Joshua Rosenbaum Joshua Pearl at a used bookstore, Amazon, or eBay (you can get the older edition...it doesn't matter). That's all you need for right now. Interview guides won't do you any good at this point.

EDIT: Forgot to mention this, but spend a few days searching through WSO. There are hundreds of helpful threads here.
