What's a solid baseline knowledge of coding that would be beneficial for Finance?
I'm currently interviewing for a role on a derivatives sales desk. I'm a few interviews in, and one of the points that are usually brought up is experience in coding, primarily in terms of automating analysis for information from say Bloomberg. From the people I've talked to, it's not expected that I'd be at the level of software developers, but familiarity would be very beneficial. I currently have experience in Python primarily through my high-school and college courses. Mainly working with pandas, pulling information from databases into pandas df, and manipulating the data from their for analysis. Is that enough knowledge, to get me through the day to days? What else, should I read into to prep myself as much as possible.
Thanks!
