What’s Bocconi like?

Hi,

I’m looking for any international students who are studying at Bocconi or have studied there. Please let me know an honest review of it. You MUST be international! I’ve only spoken to Italians. I am holding a place to study there in September however I am worried about the course structure/the Italian uni attitude. I heard that even in the courses taught in English, you can choose your exams, their dates and can re take them/have loads of options if you don’t like your score. Sure, there’s an advantage to this, but it seems to me that it’s the typical Italian university attitude which is laid back and not very serious.

Also, apparently the course structure is very theory based, and you need to constantly memorise many facts. I hate that and don’t learn as well in such a way!

Ps I’m sorry if I posted in the wrong forum...

I do not know where you heard those stuff honestly.

I'll try to clarify below. Let me know if I can be more useful.

Exams: there are some electives but then most of the exams are in a clear career path.

Exam dates: there are multiple sessions. It is not a one shot one as in many other business schools but exam material is something bigger (in terms of memorizing too) so you will definitely need to organize your exam session. You won't be able to do every exam at the first shot imo.

Language: English classes are ok for international students. For living, it is no more no less than being in Paris or Madrid. Locals talk the local language.

Exam marks: you cannot refuse marks in anyway. You can withdraw yourself from an exam (every exam has its own withdraw rules) but if your exam is corrected by the professor or the assistant and you will pass it you will get the mark. Definitely. That's the difference from other Italian and European Universities. Keep that in mind.

Hey, I’m an international student at Bocconi and I can ensure you it’s not laid back at all. I thought the same thing but quickly realised that some Italians are extremely hard working. Milan is a super cool city and yes, it is a lot of memorising but I would definitely recommend it. Opens a lot of doors.
