What's the Difference: Repo/Sec Lending, at Money Market Desk vs in Prime Brokerage
Hi all,
Hope you had a great long weekend!
Really interested in repo/Securities Lending. Could you guys introduce more details?
especially, traditional repo/Sec Lending usually is a part of Money Market Trading Desk, or as a part of Treasury, funding the bank's trading desks as well as the balance sheet.
But, I also know there is a Repo/Sec Lending function in BB's Prime Brokerage Business.
So: is there any difference between the above two?
is Repo Trader in PB much more Profit-oriented? Do they also have the duty to provide funding?
In short, are they two the same type of Repo Traders? or, they are just very different?
I really want to get a clear idea about the different roles of Repo/Sec Lending...
Any insights will be really helpful because it is so hard to find the introductory resources online...
Many thanks!!
